Şükrü Şankaya Commemorated on the 20th Anniversary of His Passing

Şükrü Şankaya, the late founder of Yeşim Group and a prominent figure in Bursa’s industrial development, was commemorated with a meaningful ceremony marking the 20th anniversary of his passing.

Hosted by Şükrü Şankaya Anatolian High School, the event once again highlighted Şankaya’s “people first” philosophy and his lifelong dedication to education. The ceremony was attended by Osmangazi District Governor Ali Partal, Yeşim Group CEO Şenol Şankaya, the Şankaya Family, public officials, students, and guests.

In his speech, Şenol Şankaya emphasized his father’s human-centered leadership and his lasting contributions to education, saying: “Continuing my father’s vision is both an honor and a responsibility for us. The Şükrü Şankaya Fund, established in cooperation with the Turkish Education Foundation, and the school’s inclusion in the International Baccalaureate Programme are reflections of his educational philosophy carried into the future.”

A documentary celebrating the 37-year legacy of Yeşim Kindergarten received great appreciation, while students’ letters, dance, and music performances added emotional depth to the ceremony.

Yeşim Group continues to uphold its founder’s ‘people first’ philosophy, carrying his values forward through its ongoing work in education, social responsibility, and sustainable development.
