7th Our Strength is Our Equality Summit was held
The 7th Our Strength is Our Equality Summit, organized by the UN Global Compact Turkey Women's Empowerment Bursa Platform, was held on September 12 at Villa Verde in Bursa with an intense participation. This year's summit of the platform, which was established in 2016 with the support of KalDer and of which Yeşim Group was the coordinator together with BUİKAD and BUSİAD, focused on the themes of “Women's Leadership and Equal Pay for Equal Work”.
In his speech, Ahmet Dördüncü, Chairperson of UN Global Compact Türkiye, emphasized that there has been no progress on gender inequality globally and in Türkiye, and that women's participation in the workforce and representation in leadership positions is still low. He also pointed out that although awareness is increasing in the business world, these efforts are not yet reflected in the data.
Yeşim Group Corporate Communications Director Dilek Cesur delivered the opening speech at the summit, which was organized in two panels on “Women's Leadership” and “Equal Pay for Equal Work”. Participants shared their experiences by sharing company practices on gender equality and women's empowerment. The event ended with the presentation of donation certificates to the sponsors for their donations made in their names to the “Çağdaş Eğitim Kooperatifi (Contemporary Education Cooperative) Kır Çiçekleri Okusun Diye” campaign.
